“THE COURTENAYS OF CURZON STREET”

Tomorrow “The Courtenays of Curzon Street” commences a threeday session. It is a British production that was attacked by the majority of critics as having a hackneyed plot with cliches that previous, and some much better pictures have already used to better advantage. Despite this however, English audiences voted it the best film of 1947. Hotly sentimental it will not suit all tastes but those who are fond of scenes of the English higher society will find something to their liking. It concerns three generations of the Courtenay family, and commences on New Year’s Eve, 1899. A rich son marries his mother’s maid and the trials of their life are told until the film ends in 1945.
