Wedding

Wells—Spanhake

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Opotiki, was the scene of a pretty wedding recently, when Ruby Amelia, daughter of Mrs F. ErSpanhake and the late Mr R. Spanhake, of Nukuhou North, was married to Cyril Wells, of Onehunga, Auckland. Father Brady officiated. The church had been nicely decorated with asters. The bride entered the church with her brother, Mr Henry Spanhake, in a charming frock of beige embossed georgette, with hat and gloves to match. She carried a pretty bouquet of pink charm dahlias, pink liliums, gypsophila and asparagus fern. Miss Ivy Wells, sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid and wore a pretty blue silk georgette frock, with white hat and shoes. Her bouquet was of mauve-pink and flame dahlias, with asparagus fern. Mr Stan Frankton, of Onehunga, was best man. Mrs Spanhake received 60 guests at the reception in St. Mary’s Hall and was assisted by Mr and Mrs Wells. Mrs Spanhake ' chose a smart black wool georgette frock, with hat and accessories to tone, and a shoulder spray of red pompom dahlias, marigolds, bouvardias and fern. Mrs Wells wore a , black wool crepe frock and black hat and accessories, and a spray of bronze dahlias and fern completed the outfit. The three long tables at the wedding breakfast were very nicely decorated with sweet peas, asters, Michaelmas daisies and fern. At the bridal table, the bridal couple sat beneath a lovely arch of flowers and a wedding bell. The three-tiered wedding cake was made by . the bride’s mother. The hall and table decorations were done by Mrs Foy. Toastmaster - was Mr Norman Eagle, and the usu&l toast list was honoured. The newlyweds left for a honeymoon to be spent in Christchurch and touring the South Island. The bride chose as her travelling outfit a teal frock and beige accessories. Mr and Mrs Wells will make their home at Onehunga Auckland.
