New Bridge Across Rangitaiki River At Edgecumbe
Preparations have commenced to build a new traffic bridge to replace the present old wooden structure across the Rangitaiki River at Edgecumbe. Steel, cement, sheds and other materials are coming to hand and it is expected that work proper on the new bridge will start in about two weeks time. The bridge will be a • modern structure of reinforced concrete, 600 feet long. A footway is to be provided on one side for pedestrians, while the roadway will have ample room for free movement by vehicular traffic, being 24 feet wide. N The flew bridge is being built by the Rope Construction Company and is expected to be completed in about 18 months.
