Revised Tariff Schedule
The “bible” of the importer and Customs agent—the New Zealand small tariff schedule—is at present being revised and consolidated by head office officials of the Custom's Pepartment. The schedule now in use was published in 1938 and largely follows the issue of 1934. Since then there have been many amendments and regulations, the .most sweeping- of which were those contained in the Geneva Agreement on Tariffs and Trade last year. No firm indication of when the , new tariff is expected to be completed can yet be made.
Better seats in second class railway carriages in New Zealand can be expected soon. The General Manager of Railways (Mr F. W. Aickin) said in Wellington that sample seats had already been made. He had not been satisfied with them, however, and had arranged' for them to be re-designed before final approval was given for their manufacture and installation.
