Growing Their Own Tobacco
Thousands of people growing their own tobacco in Britain are now able to use central curing stations for treating their leaf.. This important concession was contoned in a letter from the Customs and Excise to the Rev. Hugh Cuthbertson, president of the Amateur Tobacco Growers’ Association. Two main conditions: 1. Curing by bulk fermentation must be on a purely co-operative and non-profit-making basis. The association must neither buy nor sell tobacco. 2. Cured tobacco must be used solely for personal consumption, and not more than 251 b of tobacco must be accepted from any grower in one year.
