Whakatane Girls' Marching Club Mag Start Again

A number of keen girls attended the annual meeting of the Whakatane Marching Club at the Borough Council Chambers on Wednesday night. Five representatives from Rotorua were also present to give the girls some idea of the new rules and regulations of the Marching Association. They proved very keen to help Whakatane to get a club started.

Mr McMillan, Rotorua, offered to help the Club to hold a marching day, some time in April and said that members of the Rotorua Association would be Very willing to come over and run the day for them. The main object of this being to help to raise funds to a Whakatane team to be trained to take part in different types of marching in various centres. It was found during the evening that where Whakatane lacked most was in obtaining trainers who were keen enough to undertake the responsibility of training the girls, this however, was left to the committee to ask several local men who had trained in the Forces.

Mr McMillan spoke of the popularity of marching and hoped that all interested girls in Whakatane would not hesitate to come forward and give their names to the secretary. also hoped that any man who feels he has the time to train a team will also come forward and offer his services.
