PROSPECTS FOR FULL-SIZED AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL FIXTURE FOR NEXT SEASON
Galatea Show
The Galatea Horticultural Show Committee held a very successful show on Saturday at the Galatea School and in the grounds. The show was officially opened by Mr J. Wilson, Patron of the Society, who was introduced by the president, Mrs Black.
In her introduction Mrs Black the hope that next year the show might be developed into an A. and P. Show, an idea which had been voiced by many local people. Mr Wilson expressed his pleasure at seeing the show so well supported, both by entrants and visitors, and endorsed Mrs Black’s hopes of •an A. and P. Show next year. All the sections were well filled, and there was very keen competition in the vegetables. Knitting and embroidery were of a high standard, whilst the children’s section showed very good quality. The judges, who were awarded hearty acclamation by all present, were:— Mrs T. London, Te Whaiti, Preserves, sewing and knitting. Mrs Corbett, Rotorua, Vegetables, flowers and decorative. Mr M. Jackson, Galatea, Cooking and sweets. Mrs Gibbs, Murupara and Mrs Taylor, Galatea, fruit. Mr R. Heard, Galatea, was the winner of the vegetable section with 25 points and was presented with the vegetable points cup donated by. Mr Dhanjee of Murupara. A dance was held in the school at night.
