Local Cow’s Success At the Te Puke A. and P. Show last week, Boon and Berg’s Glen Dwyr Noble Kathleen from the Cloverfields Stud was adjudged the Champion dairy cow.
Rangitaiki Rainfall The heaviest fall of rain on the Rangitaiki Plains measured during February was 2.93 inches on the sixteenth. Rain fell on 11 days in the month. The average rainfall for February over the last 10 years is 2.86 inches.
Happy Birthday Mrs Harry Fisher had a birthday on February 19, and what do you thing she got for a birthday present? Her son was born that day at the Whakatane district hospital’s maternity Annexe. Happy birthday, Mrs Fisher! Or should one say “Many happy returns?”

burn off a bit of long grass. But before starting she rang the Fire Bri- j gade to find out if a permit was required. They said to ring the Forest Service. • Forest Service didn’t know, said to call their fire officer. The fire officer said it wasn’t his concern; ring the County Council. The County Council wasn’t interested either and said ring the Borough Council. When the Borough council said it wasn’t its affair and suggested ringing the Fire Brigade, she gave it up and burnt the grass anyway!
