N.Z. Rugby Team , ~ . The New Zealand Rugby team to tour South Africa this year is expected to leave Auckland on April 13. The team will travel by tho Shaw, Savill Line’s vessel Tamarba and will land at Capetown. Canadians For Empire Games A message from Montreal states , that Mr George C. Machum, president of the British Empire Games of Canada, announced that it is expected a; team of up to 70 will be sent from Canada to the 195 b Empire Games in Auckland. Frank Rugby Union At a meeting of the Manawatu Rugby Union this week it was decided not to .issue a special challenge? for the Ranfurly Shield. On the basis of its performance last year,, the Manawatu Rugby team was not strong enough to justify the union’s , challenge for the Ranfurly Shield* said Mr A. D. Lynch. Glading Versus Von Nida Advice has been received by theHamilton Golf Club that N. von. Nida, the international golfer, will, play an exhibition match with R. H. Glading, the former New Zealand open champion, at St. 4ndrew’slinks, Te Rapa, on Thursday, March. 8. Arrangements for the match ara i being made by the club. N.Z. Cricket Team , Great interest is being taken in the pending departure of the New Zealand cricket team to tour England in the Dominion Monarch which is due to leaye Wellington midday Saturday. The team will assemble in Wellington on Friday, February 25, and at 11 a.m. on that day a State farewell will be given it. In the early afternoon, photographs will be taken and at 4 p.m. the team will be the guests of the GovernorGeneral, Sir Bernard Freyberg, V.C., at Government House. At 5.30 ■ p.m. Sir Arthur Donnelly, the pre- ■; sident, will extend a farewell on behalf of the New Zealand Cricket Cpuncil. ■ " ——
