Appointment May I; Benefit Club t (By “Coxswain”) The appointment of Mr C. D. Molesworth, Tauranga, to a position on the staff of the Whakatane Borough Council, will result in a great asset to the town and, if Mr Molesworth joins the club, will be a great fillip to the Whakatane Rowing Club. » Recognised as one of the best row-*' ing coaches in the Auckland province, Mr Molesworth has been connected with the sport in first class! competitions for over 20 years. His( added knowledge and personal system of training should result in a; vast improvement in the Whakatane! rowing technique. , The result of Mr Moleswprth’s stay at Tauranga has been well amplified in the performance of the' Tauranga Rowing Club this season. Last year they had very, little success but this year it has been a veryi different story. The club has risen, to the top ranks of rowing, and if: Mr Molesworth should take over the coaching of the Whakatane clul> there is no reason why it should not return to the position it once held, when at the peak of its existence. Rowing Championships The Whakatane Rowing Club will be leaving' early tomorrow tp attend the New Zealand Rowing: Championships at Lake Karapiro. Three teams will be competing and. the party is expected to return some time Saturday night. This is the* first time a New Zealand championship has been held in the Aucklandprovince since before the war. Kara—piro is a possible venue for the rowing events in next year’s Empire; Games.
