Edgecumbe Beat Taneatua On a perfect wicket, Edgecumbe beat Taneatua by, 53 runs on the first innings last week-end. Taneatua won the toss and chose first strike. Shaw batted well and when joined by Semmens both players batted soundly. When Shaw was dismissed wickets fell rapidly, the side being all out for 115, Semmens 44 not out, Shaw 25. Bowling, Thurlow 8 wickets for 31 runs. Edgecumbe opened well, Tunnicliffe and Anderson making 49 rims before Anderson was out. This was followed by a partnership between Civil and Tunnicliffe which added 56 runs and put Edgecumbe in the. lead. R. Salvidge, who made 23 not out last week, followed it up with a good knock for 22 runs. Tunnicliffe 43, Civil 28, Salvidge 22, Anderson 18. Bowling, Barker 4 for 37, McCready 3 for 36 runs. L. Thurlow who has been bowling very consistently throughout the season, gained his 100th wicket in club cricket for the season, his average being 5.17 runs per wicket.
