Since he had been in New Zealand last Sir Peter Buck, eminent Maori scientist, said at Ruatoki recently, that Maoris had advanced a long way on what, to him, appeared to be the right road. They were now beginning to understand their responsibilities. He expressed his delight at what was being done for them in the way of education and land schemes. A step in the right direction, was his opinion, but the problems should be met by both Maori and Pakeha working together. The best could be achieved by friendly understanding.
