PUBLIC WORKING BEES

Sir,—On Saturday the Beautifying Society held a working bee at the Heads for the purpose of cleaning up the beach. From a population of over 3,000, 25 men turned up and did a good job and morning tea was turned on by several ladies living at the Heads. J A representation of 25 is surely a very poor effort considering the number of local people who use the beach plus those who abuse its facilities, I think public spirit must be at a low ebb. The Beautifying Society will.be pleased to see a decent crowd next year. * pfp “ONE OF THE MUGS.”
