George Tollerto Coming Back Again With New Quiz Show
After his success of last year, George Tollerton returns with a new Variety Show on his 1949 national tour. ‘Nice Goings On’ is the title of next week’s - programme which opens at Whakatane on February 22, and no more apt description could be given to this happy, friendly and frantically fast presentation. Heading' the bills is a collection of stars from the English and Australian stage, versatile performers who bring new acts, new gags, new songs and new dances to the New Zealand theatre. From London come Hurley and Lee, two madcaps of mirth, able supports to Dinks Patson and Trixie Ireland, Palladium stars whose performance will bring a touch of nostalgia to those who know and love the British music hall. But the new world brings a new note to New Zealand variety. Babs MacKinnon presents “Sup-er-Mentality” an exhibition of mental wizadry. Others in the cast include such popular performers as Eric Cameron (a “Tobruk Rat”) Allen Van, Bud Budden, Thelma Carn —and George Tollerton himself. He ably comperes an entertaining and delightfully happy show. In the afternoon at a special afterschool matinee ‘Pantomime Frolics’ will be presented particularly for the children. That is a different show but given in the typically happy Tollerton manner.
