Y.F.C. Stock Judging Competitions Held At Otakiri
The Eastern Bay of Plenty District* Committee of Young Farmers’ Clubs held its annual field day for competitive inter-club stock judging on Wednesday at the farm of Mr G. J. Murray, Otakiri. This year, the breed selected for judging was the Friesian and the animals provided by Mr Murray were very good specimens of the breed. The attendance was over 70 and *66 cards were filled in by active members. All clubs of the district, except Waimana, were represented Clubs held its annual field day fo could not be postponed was the chief cause of their absence. Lunch w/as provided by the Otakiri Y.F.C. and with the kind assistance of Mrs her daughters and Mrs Keir. . The District Chairman, Mr J. M. Barr, congratulated the winners on their success and thanked members for their attendance and the organisers for such' a highly successful day. Mr George Murray (senior) acted as demonstrator and adjudicator for the competition with dairy cow’s, and Mr A. F. Barwell carried out these duties with pigs. Results:— Dairly Cow Competition: L. Broadmore (Thornton) 153 points 1, F. G. Hill (Taneatua) 150 2, D. Adams (Awakeri) 145 3, A. Green (Taneatua) . 144 4. Team - competition: Taneatua 1, Thornton “B” 2, Thornton 3, Otakiri 4. Porker Competition: L. Broadmore (Thornton) 170 1, J. Adams (Thornton) 168 2, C. Martin (Awakeri) 166 3, M. Burke and D. Herdman (Wainui) 4, equal. Team Competition: Thornton “B” 438 1, Wainui 408 2, Otakiri “A” 370 3, Awakeri 360 4.
