Rain Interferes With Games
Bowling
Conditions were good although play was delayed through rain at the Whakatane Bowling Club’s games on Saturday. Rain also interfered with Sunday’s matches so that all games and the proposed tournament at Taneatua had to be cancelled. Results:— Smith Stars: Morpeth, Carling, Cockerell, Anderson (holders) 16 beat Grayson, Duley, Hayward, Stewart (challengers) 15. Club games: E. J. Bell, McCarthy, Henderson 27 beat Rijchardson, Grant, Mclsaac 11; C. Butler, Cantrell. Coates, Loane 30 beat Atkinson, Latta, H. L. King, Caisley 8; Compton, Head, Berg 19 beat R. F. Smith, Alexander, King 18; Campbell, Blackwell, D. Butler, W. Howat 22 beat Martin, Weeber. C. White. Smotian 17. Bowlers for Tournament On Sunday several Whakatane bowlers left to take part in the annual tournament conducted by the Rotorua Bowling Club. Scheduled to start Monday the tournament v/ill continue through the week, concluding about Friday.
