Cr R. S. Buttimore has been appointed to fill the vacant position on the Whakatane Fire Board caused by the death of the late Cr J. Creeke.
Mrs W. Armstrong, who has been spending a holiday at Sydney and in the Blue Mountains, accompanied by her sister, Mrs E. Daulton, Waipapakauri, returned to Whakatane on Saturday. She flew back across the Tasman.
Mr D. G. McCallum, Manager of the Whakatane branch of the Union Bank of Australia, has received notice of his transfer to the managership of the Palmerston North branch. Mr L. W. Worsley, present manager at Wairoa, will take over at Whakatane when Mr McCallum leaves about the middle of next month.
