Mr and Mrs W. Tilby, of Tawa Road, Auckland, have been spending an extended holiday with Mrs J. Collier, Wainui. Last week they visited Ruatoria and stayed a week with Mrs W. Mill, returning by way of Gisborne. A vote of sympathy for the relatives of the late Qi J. Creeke, who died recently at Whakatane, was passed by the Whakatane Borough Council on Monday night. Members stood in silence for a few moments. Miss K. Laughton, who has been teaching at Rotorua, is at present spending the summer vacation with her parents, the Rev and Mrs J. Laughton, Ohope.
