A One Hour Laundry Service
A back-in-one-hour laundry service has been launched in a number of English villages. The lucky village housewives are now able to take linen and clothes to a local shop, and by the time they have spent their points in the store down the street- and stopped to pass the time of day with friends the clean linen is waiting for them —dried off and ready to be- aired and ironed at home. Cost of this badly needed service is worked out by weight: 91b' of washing for about 2s. And as one sheet weighs only 11b., that means a big family wash is coped with at a fraction of present-day laundry costs.
Pioneers of this scheme are a London firm. The managing director, Major E. Beddington Behrens, says that he owes the idea-to rica, where local' community “laundrettes” are an established success.
Next to knowing when to seize an'opportunity, the most important thing in life is to know when to forgo an advantage.—Disraeli.
