Cars In Collision

On Wednesday, December 29, two cars, both driven by visitors to the district, collided at the junction of the Ohope and Maraetotara Gorge Road at about 4.15 p.m. Both vehicles were damaged but after some adjustments were able to proceed under their own power. One of the cars, driven by Mr W. J. Gates, Auckland, and containing his wife and two childnen was travelling to Ohope and had turned out of the Gorge Road when it’s front bumper collided with that of the other car, which was' proceeding in the direction of Whakatane from Ohope and was driven by Mr J. N. Bridger, also of Auckland, and contained another occupant. It was swung completely round and turned over with the wheels facing the side of the road. Apart from a few bruises Mrs Gates was the only one who suffered any injuries, being cut round the face by broken glass from the shattered windscreen.
