Edgecombe Fire Brigade Entertains

The Fire Sta’tion at Edgecumbe .* presented a very festive aspect on. Tuesday evening last when the Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Coy’s Volunteer Fire Brigade held a Christmas party for the ladies and children of the Brigade. J A huge Christmas tree festooned with balloons, streamers and a large* ’ number of presents took pride of place in the social room. Santa Claus, escorted by six firemen, \arrived on the fire engine, as the fire siren wailed and moaned, much to the delight of the children. He w as immediately surrounded by an excited throng of youngsters. Presents and gifts of chocolate were given to each child, and Santa then rode away on the engine, amid lusty cheers. Supper was set for the children in the station social room, and they did full justice to the feast Which |had firemen’ rouriding it "off with lots and lots of ice cream. ; • The.'ladies were entertained in the factory social room, where a delicious supper was served. Singing by the children was very much enjoyed. Lucky parcels were won by Miss I. Woodbury and Mrs S. Yardley. 1 Top thrills of the .evening were provided for the youngsters by rides on the fire engine. !
