Whakatane Wins In Watt Cup-Match

Playing for the Watt Cup at Opotiki on Saturday the Whakatane Tennis Club defeated Opotiki by 10 games to six. The weather was fine and the courts fast. Results with Whakatane names first:—

Women’s Singles: Miss Mahy beat Miss Baird 6/4, 6/1; Miss Righton lost to Miss Carey 4/6, 3/6; Miss Carter lost to Mrs McLauchlin 6/5, 1/6, 2/6; Mrs McKenzie beat Miss' Smith 6/1, 6/3. Men’s Singles: P. Wylds beat J. Collins 2/6, 6/4, 6/3; R. Mahy beat J. Howe 6/1, 5/6, 6/2; R. Hansen lost to H. Mihaere 6/2, 5/6, 1/6; B. Carrig beat H. Stern 6/4, 6/2.
