P. & T. Defeats Edgecumbe
P. and T. defeated Edgecumbe at Edgecumbe on Sunday. P. and T. scored 240 runs in the first innings, J. Rivett making 131 runs. He hit 6 sixes and 11 4’s„ but was eventually bowled by J. Campbell in the last over before lunch. Cleland scored 19, Martin 17, Seebeck 14. Thurlow took 8 wickets for 73 runs. Rivett’s first 6 went over into the river and the ball was retrieved by Simpson jumping in and swimming 20 yards out from the bank, to rescue the ball. Edgecumbe, in the first innings, scored 74, E. Campbell 22, Tunnicliffe 19. Seebeck took 4 wickets for 9 runs, Whiteside 1 for 4, Goile 1 for 8. Edgecumbe’s second innings had yielded 66 for 3 at stumps, E. Campbell not out 30, Thurlow 19. Cleland took 1 for 6, Seebeck 1 for 19.
