“Closed—Repairs”
Anne Baxter was getting ready to play a scene with Gregory Peck for “Yellow Sky.” She started to climb on a horse in her tight, blue denim slacks when there was a rip—as of tearing cloth! She put her leg back on the ground and began backing away in the direction of her dressing room. “If you have a road sign handy,” she told Director William Wellman, “put it up. One of those that say 'Closed for repairs’.”
