WHAKATANE BOROUGH COUNCIL Resolution to Raise the Electricity Extensions Ldan 1948, , £7,500, by way of Special Order. Notice is given that the following resolution, intended to operate as a Special Order, will come before the Council for confirmation at a meeting to be held in the Borough Council Chambers, Commerce Street, Whakatane on Monday the 13th December, 1948 at 7.30 p.m., namely:— “That the Whakatane Borough Council, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred on it by the Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926, The Local Government Loans Board Act, 1926, and regulations made thereunder, doth hereby resolve to •raise by way of Special Order, a Special Loan of £7,500, to be known as the Electricity Extensions Loan, 1948, of £7,500,/for the purpose of supplying and distributing electrical energy for the benefit of the electricity supply area comprising the Borough of Whakatane, and in particular to provide, erect and construct additions., and extensions to the present system of electricity distribution and reticulation, to .'purchase plant, land, easements and general equipment; That for the purpose of securing the repayment of the said Loan a special annually recurring rate of 1 2/sths of a penny in the pound be made and levied upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Whakatane; That the term for which the said Loan or any part thereof may be borrowed shall be 15 years; That the rate of interest that may be .paid in respeet of the said Loan or any, part thereof shall be such as shall not produce to the lender or lenders a rate exceeding £3 5s p.c. per annum; That the said Loan or any part thereof shall be repaid by equal annual instalments of principal extending over the term of the said loan; That the payment of interest and principal in respect of the said Loan shall- be made in New Zealand; That no amount payable either as interest or as principal in respect of the said Loan shall be paid out of loan-moneys; That the rate payable for brokerage, underwriting, and procuration fees in respect of the raising of the said Loan or any part thereof shall not in the aggregate exceed onehalf per con turn/ of any amount raised; That no moneys shall be borrowed under, this Special Order after the expiration of two - years from the date of the Order-in-Council consenting to the Loan. \ Bth November, 1948.
