Wandering Bottles Beer bottles have a habit of wandering to different corners of the earth. One discovered on Saturday during the Whakatane Rowing Club’s drive had travelled a long way, if the address on the ’ label was to be believed. It had the name of the manufacturers and the address was; Alexandria, Egypt. Gladiolus Show Postponed Because of the lateness of the blooming gladiolus this' season,'caused by very unfavourable weather over the last few months, the annual show of, the Whakatane Gladiolus Society has been postponed to December 20. This was decided at a recent meeting of the society following requests from exhibitors as far away as Opotiki- and Tauranga. Address On Architecture A talk on the history of architecture dn England and Wales from very ancient times to the present was given by Mr W. Dreghoro* Whakatane* to the Rotary Club on Tuesday night. He traced the various improvements in building from the iron age and illustrated his address with paintings done by himself when living in England. Revision Of Maori Bible
To mark' the completion of the revision of the Maori Bible, the committee which did the work, under the chairmanship of the Very Rev. J. G. Laughton, C.M.G., Whakatane, is going to meet at Ohope Beach next Monday and Tuesday at the Maori Synod of the Presbyterian Church. On Tuesday a hakari or Maori thanksgiving dinner is to be held. *
