Shortage Of Piping For Farm Purposes
The supply position in regards to J”, f” and 1” piping is most difficult, the Minister of Works has advised Federated Farmers through the Building Controller. The shortage of these types of piping is primarily due to production troubles in Australia. Another factor which has created a shortage is that in recent months larger sizes of piping, H” and 'l4”, have been in extreme-' ly <&iort supply. These latter sizes are required for housing purposes for wastes, and, in view of their urgency, representations were made to the manufacturers to switch from the smaller sizes to the larger to enable the shortage to be met. This; was done, and at the moment the larger sizes are in better supply. “If there are any particular oases I in which the lack of piping is hold- ; ing up farm production,” the Minister adds, “then I would be pleased to look into the matter of receipt of further details, with a view to arranging, for supplies if at all , possible. If the Bay of Plenty. Provincial Secretary will forward details of quantities and types needed in any particular cases I shall be glad to see whether reserve supplies may be made available by the Building Controller.”
