“Moral Breakdown” Of Polish Ex-Officer

The Warsaw press draws a moral from the trial of the ex-Polish officer and chemical engineer,, Kwiesinski, for burglary in London. 1 Kwiesinski fought in the Polish campaign of 1939, and later in Africa and Italy. He was awarded three high decorations. After demobilisation in Britain, he was offered work in the coal mines. The Polish ex-officer’s defence counsel explained these circumstances, claiming that • they caused a “moral breakdown.” “Inability to obtain suitable employment as a qualified engineer and lack of means made him stoop to crime,” said the counsel.
