SLIGHT FAULTS
Whakatane-Opotiki Toll Lines The toll lines between Whakatane and Opotiki, which have been out of order intermittently recently, are now being closely examined and tested by Post and Telegraph Department technicians from Whakatane. It is hoped to have them in order by Christmas. There are four lines on the circuit, which .carry all communications between the Bay of Plenty and the East Coast. It is used from Tauranga to Gisborne, Whakatane and Opotiki, and it carries the , morse from Opotiki to Auckland. Officers of the telegraph department have had difficulty in locating the faults. On Friday two wiremen set out from Whakatane, following the lines overland .to Ohiwa Harbour, where they then go under hte sea as a submarine cable. They were to make a close examination of the lines. The trouble has not been serious, though some calls have been delayed spasmodically. ,
