United’s Good Win Over P. & T.

Brilliant bowling by W. McKenzie, who took 9 wickets for 12 runs, helped to pave the way for an easy first innings win for United over P. and T. in a cricket ' match at Whakatane on Saturday. Of the .16 overs bowled by him, six of them were maidens. While they scored 123 in com-, parative comfort, United received rather a shock towards the end of their first innings when their last five batsmen all went but for ducks. P. and T. were not able to overtake United’s first innings total while their batsmen never felt

completely at ease against the bowling. The wicket was good and the outfield fast. Details:— United 123 (Le Pine 51, McKenzie 31; C. Gilliam 3 for 9, R. Cleland 3 for 21) and- 4 for 57 declared (Howard 18 not out; Seebeck 2 for 9) defeated P. and T. 57 (Cleland 10, Henry 14; McKenzie 9 fpr 12) and 6 for 26 (Whiteside 12 not out; Carling 1 for 3, Crawford 1 for 3, Chamberlain 2 for 8, Le Pine 2 for 7) on the first innings.
