Air Race Could End Day Before Start

“It is the considered opinion of many that they will be here in under 10 hours,” said Mr H. D. Christie, discussing the proposed international air race from England to Harewood at a meeting at which members of the Air Race Council and the provisional directorate of the Christchurch exhibition agreed upon plans for synchronising the two events. “We will have to watch the pilotless aircraft are not used. It is quite possible with the supersonic speed now attainable and the aid of the high velocity winds in the upper atmosphere which reach 200 miles an hour, that the race will end on the day before it starts.”
