WILL THERE BE A WINTER SHOW? Power Plant Problem Will there be a winter show next year? That question is likely to be cleared up at . the extraordinary general meeting which the Winter Show Association is holding on November 25. Decisions of that meeting are likely also to determine whe- ! ther or not the Association carries I on at all. I It depends largely on a power | plant. On Thursday night the executive of the Association received the report of the sub-committee set up at the annual meeting to investigate the possibility of obtaining a power plant, but did not make a definite decision on that committee’s recommendation that a plant be bought for £7OO. Some members of the executive counselled caution, pointing out that, even with the power plant bought, it would take at least another £3OO in building repairs and preparations to run a show. They thought that outlay a little steep. Others held strongly to the opinion that they had a duty to the lie to run a show, and that a courageous step in that direction would prove itself to be more than justified in the long run. Those members are persuaded that a series of successful shows could be rim if the Association had a power plant, and that the plant, at the price quoted, is a bargain and would be a worthwhile asset. Finally, it was decided to put the whole position before a general meeting, which is to be asked to consider the purchase of a power plant and a scheme for renovating the building or, failing a decision to incur that expense, the disposal of the buildings.
