SLACK ATTITUDE TO WORK TENDS TOWARDS SLACKNESS OF CHARACTER
(Special to Beacon) Wellington, Nov. >9. “I believe in hard work. A slack attitude to work leads to a slackening of character,”'said Dr. J. D. Salmond speaking to the report of the Youth Committee of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church. Dr. Salmond said that he still believed in the catechetical method of teaching, and in memory work for teaching young people Christian principles. The report, presented by the Rev. S. C. Francis, indicated that the Youth Work of the Church was in good heart. The greatest growth was in the correspondence Sunday School, catering for country children, and invalids. > There are now 2170 children, in the Correspondence Sunday School, with 170 teachers. The report stated that the poliomyelitis epidemic had ' interfered with many Youth activities. '
