Weight-Lifters’ Wrangle With Assn. Over 2/6 Fee
A statement that the two records which were established at the national weight-lifting championships last Saturday will not be 1 claimed has caused many people to wonde. why. The story is that any weight-lift-er who breaks a record must pay a fee of 2/6 to the New Zealand Amateur Weight-lifter Association to have his recognised. The strong men do not think the'* v should be asked to pay the fee and the association insists that they should.
Neither will give way and records are allowed to go unclaimed and unrecognised. Records at certain bodyweights are said to be broken every wee.i in Auckland and hardly any notice is taken of it. And all for the sake of half-a-crown.
