“Schedules” And “Skedules”
“There is a lot of difference between the language spoken in America and ordinary English,” said Dr. W. E. Petersen, Professor of DairyHusbandry at the University of Minnesota, during his recent visit ' to Whakatane. “This is inevitable because of the numerous different dialects introduced into the States. “It is reported that during the campaigns in France General Eisenhower had “skedules” and General Montgomery “schedules.” This w.s unusual and General Eisenhower wondered why there was a difference. He finally came to the conclusion,” Dr. Petersen added, “that Americans and English went to different ‘shools’.”
