Golf Visit Postponed The expected visit of R. H. Glading, Open Golf Champion of New Zealand, and N. Edwards to Whakatane at the week-end has been postponed owing to the late return of Glading from Australia. Ohope Carnival Meeting on Monday night the Ohope Progress League decided to run the usual summer carnival sports again on January 29 next on the Caledonian Society’s sports ground. There is a good chance that the Bay of Plenty Motor Cycle Club will co-operate, the meeting was told. Children Demolish Park The Yorkshire Post reports that 200 children armed with saws and axes demolished a woodland in the Wombwell Miners’ Park after a pas • ser by jokingly told.a few children to take the “lot” when they asked him if they could have some wood from a few trees. One group used a pony to move the wood. Chivalrous Thief Chivalry isn’t dead yet, at least not in Montreal. When Mrs Philippe Hebert answered her doorbell a man demanded money. Mrs Hebert j promptly fainted. The caller carried her to a bedroom, carefully applied damp towels and revived her. Then, hoping she felt better, he ran- j sacked the house and walked out with 59 dollars. 1
