Gift To Swim Star

Esther Williams received the surprise of her life when she opened a tiny package, two inches by four inches, which the mailman delivered to her at the M.G.M. Studios and found it contained—a bathing suit from Clark Gable. The suit, one of the new scanty types being introduced by the women of France this season, was purchased by Gable during his current visit to Paris. “Thought you’d like to see what you’d have to wear if you went bathing over here,” wrote Gable to the famous swimming star. Miss Williams won’t be able to wear the suit in her new film “Take Me Out To The Ball Game.” The musical is set in the 1906 period and the t actress will wear the bloomer type suit of Grandma’s day.
