New Look Abolished In Latest Paris Wool Fashions
Wool is used extensively in all the new styles featured in the latest Paris collection. Wool dresses, wraps and even wool accessories will see the smart woman through the 24 hours of her day and night, for this season there is apparently no garment in the feminine wardrobe which Paris designers have not shown in wool fabrics. Embroidered evening jackets and immense' coats to cover almost any type of skirt offer the most spectacular use for wool in quality and quantity, sayes a Paris fashion note received by the N.Z. Wool Board. Then there are wool scarves and shawls, brief wool boleroes, and even wool-topped shoes for winter afternoons. New Winter Colours The new winter colours are particularly effective. There are fewer suitings than last year, and fashion, abolishing- the new look, has turned to slimmer and less exaggerated silhouttes. , m Blanket cloths, pilot-cloths and pile cloths are used for many coats, ■ usually fashioned on voluminous < lines and contrasted sharply with ■> the slimly fitted dresses over which they are worn. Width and import- , ance are often concentrated on the . upper part of the figure—loose jack- ] ets, capes and cloaks being worn i above pencil-slim skirts.
There is a range of greys, used equally freely for day and evening wear and include every shade. Black figures prominently for all formal occasions.
Simple Wool Frocks Very simple'wool frocks are elaborately sprinkled with rhinestones or sequins to turn them into cocktail frocks; coats which would otherwise be considered as sports wrat)s own to the same trimmings and flaunt their gay colours above slim dark dinner dresses. From an era of dresses so full that it was a miracle any woman could squeeze them into a taxi cab, fashion has turned to a line th it may be fitted so closely that it will be a wonder if their wearers can climb into the same conveyences. But many designers have achieved these slim lines by designing their skirts as wrap-overs opened high enough to assure freedom of movement, while other skirts are slit Skirts for day and evening wear have been introduced which are cut straight at front and sides but also have flares, the fullness springing from the back to the knees.
