Russia Got Uranium From America

A story of uranium—raw material for atomic bombs—being shipped to Russia during the war was told to Congressmen investigating Communist activities in the Government. Representative John McDowell of Pennsylvania told the Un 7 American Activities Committee:— "As chairman of a special subcommittee, I can reveal that at the very height of atomic • research in 1943 two shipments of uranium compound were made to Russia after tremendous pressure on all phases of our Government from known Russian agents and others who had worked themselves into positions of importance"

One-shipment was of. 300 pounds, and the other 1000 pounds, Mr McDowell said.
