Fire Brigade Dance At Edgecombe Not Crowded, But Enjoyed
The annual dance held by the Rangitaiki Volunteer Fire Brigade was not the success that the Brigadesmen had hoped for. The poor attendance, especially of the .loqal people, was most disappointing. However those present spent a most enjoyable, evening, and fully appreciated the splendid music played by Freddie Burt and his orchestra. Fireman J. Nowland was the M.C. . and performed his duties in a. very able manner. He thanked all those ■present for their attendance and support. Donations of £1 each from Mr C. Le Lievre and Mr L. Walsh were very much appreciated by the Brigadesmen, as also was the donation •of the use of the Central Theatre free of. charge by Mr D. Meikle. Wives of the Brigadesmen had been very busy, and a delicious home made supper was served. A photographer was very wgll patronised, particularly by the Fire Brigadesmen and their wives, the ■ opportunity being taken to secure • snaps of the team of men who competed in the recent Fire Brigade • competitions at Matamata. Extras were played by Miss B. Newdick and were very much enjoyed by the dancers. Monte Carlo prizes were won by Miss A. Waugh and Mr B. Simons, Miss O. Hunter and Mr K. Civil; spot waltz Miss S. Hunter and Mr L. McLaren.
Competition: “Bluey” Martin Ist prize, Mr P. McGillian 2, Mr J. King
