County Driving Licenses .Between' September 20 and October 18 thirty-one driving licenses were issued by the County Traffic Inspector, Mr A. Carling, who also carried out 27 tests and issued a number of extensions to licenses. Heavy traffic fees collected totalled £lB 6s lOd.

Druids’ Card Evening The fourth of a- series of Flag 500 card evenings organised by ■ the Whakatane Druids’ Lodge, was held on. Tuesday evening in the Parish Hall, apd, as on previous, occasions, there was an excellent attendance. Lady members served a tasty homemade supper at the conclusion of the evening. Prize winners were: Mesdames' E. Rivett and V. Allen, Miss Argus and Mr E. Malaquin. Booby prizes: Mesdames Chapman, Hansen, Hancock and Roulston.
