Napier Cathedral Will Be Rebuilt

A decision to rebuild the Waiapu diocesan cathedral at Napier was made at a meeting of the diocesan, synod. The adoption of this proposal was a sequel to a lengthy discussion by the synod as to whether Napier or Hastings should be the site of the rebuilt cathedral. The proposal to build on the Napier site was favoured by Bishop Lesser, who suggested that modern ideas of construction could be used and that the cathedral could be named the Cathedral of the Resurrection. This met with general applause from the synod.
