Miss Ngaere Carter, of Auckland, is spending the long week-end with her parents, Mr and Mrs H. Carter, Edgecumbe. ■>
Mrs N. Potter, Waimana, has returned home from Auckland, after attending the wedding of Miss June Girvin.
Miss Mary Jesperson has returned to Edgecumbe from Auckland to spend the week-end with her parents, Mr and Mrs J. Jesperson.
Mr G. K. Koea, late of the literary staff of the Taranaki Herald, New Plymouth, and Railways Publicity Office, Wellington, • arrives here tomorrow to join the Beacon’s staff as reporter.
Mr and Mrs D. B. Currie and family, who are leaving Thornton next week for Auckland, were guests of honour at a public farewell in the Thornton Hall last night. Mr Currie, who has been clerk for the Lands and Survey Department at Thornton, for the past TO years, is retiring from the service to go into business.
