Hollywood’s unofficial caste system embraces even animal actors. • This was proved when director Lesly Selander ordered a number of horses delivered to Eagle Lion Films’ location site in northern California for the Cinecolour production “The Red Stallion.” Big Red, the equine hero of the film, arrived in regal 1 splendour in an air-condi-tioned, padded van; his stand-in showed up in a plain truck.
