Waimana Garden Party: Girl Guide Funds To Benefit
, The garden party held at Mrs M. King’s home Waimana, last week, in aid of funds for Girl Guides and Brownies was quite successful. The stall holders did brisk business, produce, cakes and sweets being in demand. When the school children arrived, the ice cream stall was rushed. Children enjoyed treasure hunts and games during the afternoon. The amount taken was in the vicinity of £2l, a very gratifying effort. This included donations of £2. Winners of the competitions were:
Cake, donated by Mrs Wylde, won by Mrs Woolfield; 10/- donated by Mrs Kneebone, won by Mrs Woolfield •Ovho gave it back to the funds; Box of chocolates, donated by Mrs Potter, won by C. Such; Box of chocolates donated for estimating the number of beans in a jar, won by Mrs C. J. Menzies. Winners of games:— Clock golf, Mrs N. Eagle, Children, Rex Eagle; Quoits, Mrs Grant, Children, Polly Putiki; Crazy Croquet, Mrs Rust.
A delicious home-made afternoon tea was served out of doors, after which Mrs Wylde, president, thanked all for helping so willingly in every way and attending the party. Mrs Wylde remarked how pleased all were to see Mrs Pearce, Commissioner, present from Opotiki and hoped all spent a pleasant afternoon.
