Private Investiture Ceremony At Hotel
At a private investiture at the Commercial Hotel, two soldiers and two civilians received awards from the Governor-General A Military
Medal was also to have been handed' to the relatives of a Maori soldier, the late Sgt T. Trainor, Ruatoki, but his next-of-kin was not available.
Recipients were: — Military Efficiency Decoration (E.D.): Capt T. G. Santon, Taneatua. Military Medal (M.M.): W.O. II R. Thompson, Taneatua, for conspicuous’ gallantry at Celle, on December 14, 1944. / Civilian Member of the Order of the British Empire (M.8.E.): Mr J. L. Burnett, Nukuhou North. Royal Humane Society’s Bronze Medallion: Master Thomas Reid, who rescued another boy from drowning, at the mouth of the VvTiakatarie River on January 13 of this year.
