DISTRICT FARM SCHOLARSHIPS CONSIDERED
■ Y.F.C.’s Working On Library Plan Meeting at Taneatua, the Eastern Bay of Plenty District Committee of Young Farmers’ Clubs appointed a sub-committee to go into the questions of establishing local district scholarships and a library of books of reference on agricultural topics. Messrs D. G. McLachlan, 'Domin:'ion president, and S. Freeman, sec-retary-organiser of Young Farmers’ -Clubs, attended the meeting, at which nine clubs were represented. The visiting officials congratulated the district on the work it had /done, particularly in recent years. Mr McLachlan pointed out that the main duty of a district committee - was to recognise its responsibilities, •and that" had been done to the full in Eastern Bay of Plenty. He mentioned that the Dominion organisation now had 300 clubs with a membership of 9,000. The committee decided to organise a Young Farmers’ ball early next -year, and set up a sub-committee for the purpose.
