Strand Extension Plans Advanced

The Strand extension proposal was carried a stage further on Friday when the Whakatane Harbour Board received a Borough Council letter offering np objection to the proposal to connect up with McAlister Street and then to go ahead with the proposed McAlister StreetKing Street road. The last stage of that plan will require the taking of certain land, and the Board is to advertise that intention. It will also submit to the Borough Council, in accordance with that body’s request, a plan showing the necessary provisions for drainage. In that regard, the Board is asking the Borough Council to make available its drainage plans of the whole area that drains through the Board’s endowments.
