Duck’s Long - Journey

When Mr A. Eivin, of Turua, shot a grey duck on the Hauraki Plains on May 6, he found a ring round its leg, and sent this to an address indicated. He has now received a reply from the Department of Internal Affairs about the bird. The duck was liberated, on March 12 this year, at Hamilton’s Bend of the Manawatu River, near Palmerston North. Its journey was traced as part of a scheme which will provide valuable data bearing on the conservation of wild life, and -results of which will later be published by the department.
