Sliding Car Doors

Norwich insurance official Sidney Nobbs has just tried out a sliding door on the driver’s side, which he has invented for a sedan motor-car, says a London exchange, “The driver can open the door in a congested parking space dr a suburban garage without taking the paint off,” said Nobbs. On the roads the risk of cyclists running into a suddenly opened door is eliminated. “In addition I have installed on the kerb side of the car, hinged double doors without a centre division, opening like French windows. “Passengers thus have easier access to the pavement. In a crash, the hinged doors would burst open, leaving an escape exit as big as the side of the car.”
